Adams Idea Pro Black CB1 Irons Review

by on August 21st, 2011

Golfers of many different skill levels will associate Adams with their award winning hybrids. Now it’s time to open our eyes to a whole new approach to golf, and Adams is making a case to bring us all along.

After three years of hitting my Ping S59 set I felt it was time to make a change. After reading and researching many different iron sets I settled on the Adams Idea Pro Black CB1 irons and could not be happier. At first glance the esthetics of the CB1’s grab your attention with the black pearl finish. Upon closer review the iron has a very sleek, classic and thin shape to the club head. When I lay the iron down I feel confident I’m going to strike the ball well, just based on the overall look of the clubs.

Adams has also stepped up with the project X shaft, which is stock in the irons. Normally this shaft is an upgrade with extra cost. Designed for a lower more penetrating ball flight, you have 6 different stiffness levels to suit your swing speed. The set comes 4-GW, leaving out the 3 iron, in hopes I’m sure that you purchase one of their hybrids. Personally I do not miss having a 3 iron, but if it’s a club of choice you can order it from Adams.

If you’re a mid-low handicap golfer, looking for a change or upgrade from your current set, the CB1’s should be at the top of your list of irons to demo. At a cost of $899 (even lower online) they come in at a lower cost to its competers. I cannot say enough great things about what Adams has done with its first commercial set. Adams has really stepped up the quality of their product, as evident by PGA pros like Tom Watson, Chad Campbell, Tommy Gainey, Ryan Moore and Aaron Baddely endorsing the product.

Go out and try the Adams CB1 irons, what’s the worst thing that could happen? You drop a few strokes on the handicap?
